Math 1310: ICYMI Tips for Assignment 2

Note that you need to study Lesson 4 (Linear Programming and Feasibility Regions) and Lesson 5 (The Simplex Method) from my Matrices for Management book to prepare for this assignment.
PLEASE NOTE:  I have totally re-jigged my Matrices for Management book this year.  Two new lessons have been added, and I have changed the order of many of the other lessons to better fit the syllabus for the distance course.  I always appreciate it when students purchase the current edition of my books, as that does subsidize my efforts to offer things like these free tips.  If you choose to make do with an older edition of my book, please realize that you are missing some things, but you can probably make do.  I leave it up to you to look at the Table of Contents in my free sample of the book above to clarify what lesson number in your old book pertains to the lessons I mention in my tips.

I think you should find this assignment fairly straightforward if you do thoroughly study and do all the Practise Problems I give you in Lessons 1, 2 and 3.
Question 1
By the "corner point" method, they mean using a graph as I do in Lesson 4.  Be sure to draw a graph and shade the feasibility region to identify the corner points.  Label all the lines you draw on the graph and all the corner points.
Question 2
Make sure you have studied my strategies for solving Word Problems discussed in Lesson 3 of my book and exemplified by my questions 4 and 5 in the Lecture Problems.  Be sure you clearly define all the variables you use, and don't forget to say x > 0, etc.

Unlike my examples, they also want you to solve the problem.  You can solve it using the corner point as in the previous question.  You could also use Simplex if you wish, but I avoid Simplex when possible.
