Tips for Assignment 3
Here is a link to the actual assignment, in case you don't have it handy:
Note that you need to study Lesson 3 (Matrix Math), Lesson 4 (The Inverse of a Matrix and Applications) and Lesson 10 (Leontief Models) from my Matrices for Management book to prepare for this assignment.
Don't have my book? You can download a sample containing Lessons 1 and 2 here:
Question 1
A good runthrough of Matrix Math problems as taught in Lesson 3 of my book.
Question 2
Make sure you have studied Lesson 4 of my book before attempting this question.  Hint: Factor S out, leaving an understood identity matrix behind.  Then isolate S using an inverse matrix.
Question 3
Very similar to my question 1 in Lesson 4.
Question 4
A Leontief Open Model question as taught in Lesson 10 of my book.
Question 5
A Leontief Closed Model question as taught in Lesson 10 of my book.  Please disregard my trick to quickly create a zero row in these matrices.  It is an unnecessary complication.  Once you have set up your [I - C | 0] matrix, just proceed to row-reduce the way you know how and the zero stuff will take care of itself.
