Math 1500: Important hints about the exam
Published: Fri, 12/07/12
For those of you who are writing the classroom lecture sections Math 1500 exam, Prof. Gupta gave a few hints (and she never misleads students):
1. There is no Related Rates on the final exam. This is not a surprise as there usually isn't. However, those of you who are writing the distance final or the Math 1510 final will certainly have this topic on your exam.
2. She said be sure to study Definition of Derivative because it is on the final. This is a bit of surprise, but do so. This may also suggest that one of the first five required proofs (which all use definition of derivative) may be on the exam, so make sure you memorize all eight required proofs as well as practise some Definition of Derivative problems.
3. She said the max/min word problem would not be a rectangle inside a graph type (like my question 7 in the lecture, for example). That is disappointing because I consider that one of the easier types.
4. She said there are no limits or continuity on the exam. This, again, is not unusual. Those of you writing the distance final should definitely expect these topics on your exam, though.
If you have any other hints that your prof gave in class, please do not hesitate to let me know, and I will pass it around.
