Tips to help with Math 1500 Distance Assignment 5

Here are some tips to help you with Assignment 5 if you are taking Math 1500 via distance/online.
Note that my final exam prep seminar is Dec. 3. Go to www.grantstutoring.com for more info and to register if you are interested.
You should thoroughly study Lesson 10: Max/Min Word Problems and Lesson 11: Antiderivatives before attempting this lesson.
Be sure to compute and simplify the necessary derivatives and double-check you are right before you proceed to answer the questions.
Questions 1, 2 and 3 are all word problems where you should be ok if you study my lesson. Note that you get a cubic polynomial in question 3 which is difficult to factor. Solve the zero by trial and error (sub in x = 0, 1, 2, 3, etc. until you find the zero). That is a perfectly acceptable method. Don't show all your attempts, just declare the value that is the correct zero.
Questions 4 and 5 are standard antiderivative questions using the antiderivative formulas I teach in Lesson 11.
Question 6 requires the horrible summation formulas I show you in my last question in the Lecture for Lesson 11. Solve this one open book following my examples.
Question 7. Do not solve using antiderivative formulas! Draw the graphs of the given functions, then shade the area between the curve and the x-axis between the endpoints. You can compute the area by simple geometry. Which is to say, find the area of the appropriate triangle, rectangle, or semicircle.
Question 8. More antiderivatives using the antiderivative formulas.
