Stat 1000 Midterm Exam Prep Seminar on Oct. 8
Published: Wed, 09/28/11
I just wanted to let you know that my first one-day exam prep seminar for Stat 1000 will be Saturday, Oct. 8 from 9 am to 9 pm, in room 100 St. Paul's College at U of M. There will be a 45-minute lunch and supper break at approximately 12 noon and 5:30, respectively.
The fee for the seminar is $40 for everyone. (Of course, my weekly tutorial students can attend for free.) It is strongly recommended that you bring volume 1 of the current edition of my Basic Stats 1 study book (white cover) to the seminar as I will be using that book as the basis for the lecture. Students can also bring an older edition of my book instead, or do without a book entirely if they wish (although that may mean taking a considerable amount of notes). Certainly the book from last year is adequate (blue cover) and even the book from a couple of years ago (green cover) would be ok, but may require a lot of jumping around and additional note-taking due to changes I made. Any older books will be quite different, but again, you are welcome to stick with what you have and just write your own notes.
Remember that you can purchase my study book at UMSU Digital Copy Centre in room 118 University Centre and that you should expect to wait at least one business day between ordering and receiving the book.
Here is a link where you can download a handout of the questions I will be discussing in the seminar (I will endeavour to cover all of these, but may not have time). These are all the questions in Lessons 1, 2 and 3 of the current edition of my book. You can decide if the book you have is adequate, or if you would like to get my current book (which, of course, discusses these questions and the underlying concepts in detail):
Unfortunately, I am not ready to take formal registrations as of yet due to delays in some of the other exams I offer seminars in, but I just wanted to make sure you are aware of the upcoming seminar so that you can make plans. Drop-ins at the seminars are always welcome anyway, especially if you already have my book.
