Grant's Revised Final Exam Seminar Schedule

Published: Wed, 10/27/10

Hi ,

As I feared, trying to schedule seminars during the actual exam period is nearly impossible.  There are so many other exams that students are either writing or studying for that it is difficult to find a day from Dec. 9 on that will satisfy everyone.

By the way, the final exam dates are posted.  Here is the link if you have not checked your course dates yet:

Here is my preliminary seminar schedule:

Math 1500/1520 will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26.  I think this is Grey Cup Weekend, so I figure Saturday is better than Sunday in case you have a Grey Cup party you want to attend.  This is 13 days before the actual exam (more if you are taking the course by distance), but that is not such a bad thing.  That will give you all the more time to practise the more challenging topics that are covered in the second half of the course.

Stat 1000 will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4.  I would say this is definite.

Math 1310 will have Part 1 covering all the major word problem topics on Friday night, Dec. 3 and Part 2 covering all the Linear Algebra topics on Sunday, Dec. 5.

Math 1300 will be on Sunday, Dec. 5.

Stat 2000 is proving to be very difficult to schedule.  I would like to offer it on either Sat. Dec. 11 or Sun. Dec. 12, but there seem to be a lot of you who have exams on Dec. 11 or Dec. 13, so that does not look feasible.  Similarly, Dec. 9 seems to cause problems because many of you have an exam on Dec. 10.  Consequently, I am considering Tuesday, Dec. 14.  That is the latest possible date I can offer for the seminar, as I leave for Jamaica on Dec. 15.

Please let me know if the dates I have suggested are ok with you.  Please be sure to tell me what course you are talking about, especially if you do not like the date.

Thanks for your help,

Grant
